At a Plenary Session of the European Parliament, Joe Higgins MEP condemns the proposed closure of 3 swimming pools by Dublin City Council.
Joe also salutes the protests of communitifies in Crumlin, Sean McDermott Street and Coolock who will be greatly affected by the closure, outside Dublin City Hall. While the Council claims that the €1 million necessary to keep the pools open do not exist, the Irish government is pumping €30 billion into recapitalising the banks. (14-06-10)
